Organization: Making Homeschool Supplies Mobile

Markers, glue, tape, rulers, pencils, crayons, glue sticks, scissors... how can they be made mobile in a way that doesn't pile them all on top of one another like an art box does?

The Pampered Chef Tool Turnabout - that's how!  This has worked so well for my oldest ds, that I now have gotten my middle ds one too... and I'm sure in a year or two my littlest learner will need one too.  At this post on the HOD Board, I shared a picture of our tool turnabout, and there are some great links to other super ideas for organizing your homeschooling within this thread, as well as ideas for what to do with our busy toddlers:

The Pampered Chef Tool Turnabout is usually readily available on Ebay for around $15 in either black or white.

In Christ,
Julie

Habits: Charlotte Mason style reading for Moms too?

I used to love reading, but somehow college all but killed it for me.  Years of reading innumerable pages of dry book after dry book, followed by countless quizzes and tests just took the joy right out of reading.

At the start of this school year, I was enjoying reading yet another living book with my dc while homeschooling with HOD, when it occurred to me perhaps I could enjoy taking up reading again if I too tried it Charlotte Mason style.  Her bite-sized readings focused on one book within each sitting, yet slowly reading multiple books simultaneously seemed to be a great fit for my dc, so why couldn't it be for me?

So, I pulled a bunch of different genres of books (borrowing HOD's idea) off my shelf, and gave it a whirl.  Finding 15 minutes to read each day here and there is not hard, and switching the books I am reading throughout the day gives me a balance I love.

I read my daily devotional in my bed for 15 minutes in the morning.  I read my organizational/self-help type book in my arm chair with a cup of coffee right after finishing homeschooling and lunch.  And I read Jane Austen (or something comparable) in a bubble bath late at night when the dc are in bed.  Also, I always stick a book I am reading in my purse on errand day.  Now waiting in my car at the bank drive-through, sitting in a chair to get my hair hi-lighted, or waiting for my doctor's appointments have all become times for me to have a 15 minute Charlotte Mason style reading getaway.  Books have come back into my life, and it's been wonderful!   May you find some Charlotte Mason moments to read too!  If you have 15 minutes a day, you can!

What I'm reading now...
