My Blog Adventure!

Welcome to my blog! It's high time this 48-year-old ventures into blog world and joins the ranks of you intriguing bloggers. First off, you should know I love the Lord Jesus Christ with all my heart. I love His Creation, His Word, His forgiveness, His mercy, and His being the Savior of my life. He is my reason for living! After the Lord, my next love in life is my outdoor-lovin', prankster pullin', hard workin' man I've called my husband for 24 years and counting. My 3 sons - to whom this blog is dedicated - have the next piece of my heart, and they fill my world with laughter, love, and laundry. I am calling this MY BLOG ADVENTURE... so hop into blog world with me... let's get to encouraging one another... this could be fun!

Homeschooling Books: Mobilized and Organized

Books, books everywhere!  Here's an easy way to mobilize and organize all those amazing books!  Have 2 cubes for each child's books.  One cube for only the books being used right now in the day to day, and one cube for the books that will be used later in the year.  As books are finished, trade them out for the new books as needed.  Each day, only one cube is needed for each child this way, and it can easily be moved from cupboard to table and back again.

  1. OH! I love this! I love specifics so I hope it's ok if I ask you a few question :o)

I see labels on several of the books for the manual that they go with. Do you do that for all the books of each manual? Right now I've got LHTH, LHFHG, and PHFHG. I can see the books getting mixed up the more sets I add. CtC will be added in the fall. Preparing will have to be shelved until Jacob is ready for it. So many fabulous books! I was planning to devote a book shelf to each manual but the more I think about it the more I think bins would be better!

We are doing LHTH right now. In Emmett's cube I see something laminated and on the ring holders. Please pray tell what that is! I'm always looking new ideas!

And lastly where did you get your bins? I assume Wal-mart but wanted to ask :o)

    Thanks so much!

  2. I just realized that when I email you answer they are not posted as comments here. I am slow at figuring all of this out! For anyone else wondering about Paige's question here, I bought white address labels. I put a heart for "Heart of Dakota" on them and wrote the acronym of the guide's name that matched each book (i.e. BHFHG for "Bigger Hearts for His Glory", and LHTH for "Little Hands to Heaven", etc.). This has helped us keep track of which guide each book goes with, as well as let the boys reread books we've done in the past with HOD for fun (which they beg to do).

The laminated ringed thing is for Jolly Phonics, a very gentle beginning phonics program I always use first. And yes, the blue cubes came from Walmart and were called "Toy Boxes". I'm not sure they carry them anymore though - if anyone ever sees them, let me know! I need to find a third one for my little Emmett's HOD things.

    In Christ,
    Julie
